You know you're a suburbanite when....

...your mom asks you to get the newspaper from the end of the driveway and you hop in your car to get it.  Since it was hard to get up the incline on his return trip, he thought his tires needed air and grabbed the bike pump to fix the problem.  Notice the newspaper behind him.

We had a fun afternoon today at the library, lunch and the park with

And finally, another day in Animal Kingdom (our backyard).  The picture doesn't do it justice.  It's some kind of hawk strolling through our backyard with legs that look like Clydesdale's!

Father's Day at Tim's

We had a great Father's Day weekend with Nanny and Grandpa.  We spent Saturday at soccer tots and the Marine Corps Museum and Sunday at Tim's Rivershore.  

Ryan enjoyed telling nanny about the fried pickles on the menu!

Ryan ran up to the singer to make a request.  Unfortunately he didn't know Creep by Radiohead.  He did sing Daniel and dedicated it to Ryan and Tyler.  He's our favorite singer at Tim's.  He sounds like David Cook.

End of Year Teacher's Gifts

OK, I just had to share.  I know this blog is for stuff related to the kids but these are gifts for Ryan's teachers so that counts, right?  I wanted to send a little something for all of Ryan's specials teachers, secretaries, assistants, etc and I had a hard time coming up with something.  Can you tell what they are?  

I hope you guessed personalized luggage tags because you would be right=)  Everyone needs a recognizable luggage tag for summer travel!  I also got together with another mom and made the giant cards below out of oak tag for the 2 teachers in Ryan's room.  We got them purses so we thought this would be a fitting card to have all the kids sign.  Cute, huh?  We also included a little picture of each child next to his/her message.  Ryan wrote next to his picture "Your gift to me is knowledge.  My gift to you is I'll miss you."  

Potomac Nationals

It was Montclair Night (Ryan's school) at the Nationals tonight and despite the 100+ degree temp, we toughed it out.  We had a really fun time.  Tyler shook his booty 'til his shorts fell down!

Did I mention the extreme heat?  We were soaked!

Believe it or not, this was actually a pre-game nap.  The double header ended early due to a storm.  On the way home we saw lightning strike a power line above us.  There was a ball of sparks flying in the sky and on to the road.  Scott gave the boys a "Mike Brady lecture" about respecting Mother Nature.
